DATABASES Evaluating Truthfulness and Detecting Deception With training and practice, investigators can become more aware of what they see in the form of microexpressions and hear as they apply the concepts of statement analysis. Officers should become aware of microexpressions and how to spot them, as well as the basic techniques of statement analysis. They should learn them well enough so that they become automatic and, rather than interfere with their processing of interviews, augment their skill set. In doing so, they will be armed with powerful investigative tools that leverage the most cutting-edge science available. This document is located in the Core Database under document #617346. Vehicle Modems This policy is from the Layton, Utah, Police Department. It is the policy of the Department to fully capitalize on the features offered through the Spillman Mobile package, including GPS. The GPS function is an important technological advance and has a direct benefit to enhanced officer safety. The ability of dispatchers to pinpoint an officer's location in an emergency is self-evident. The vehicle modem provides the wireless capability for the GPS and the in-car computers. To obtain optimal performance from the modem and ensure dispatch is receiving current GPS information the following procedures will be adhered to. The full text of this policy can be located in the Policies Database under document #617366. Pursuits: Data That Drives Safety LogIn, Inc. -- producer of IACP Net and Pursuits -- has published a comprehensive report analyzing pursuit data collected on Pursuits, the national web-based pursuits tracking tool. This in-depth report is available now, located in the IACP Net Core Database under document #617010, and is exclusive to IACP Net and Pursuits members.
