The Quest-Response Recognition Program Continues

IACP Net's Quest-Response Recognition Program is off to a great start, with many members already qualifying for a chance to win the 2010 IACP Conference travel package to Orlando, Florida.

Each user can qualify again in May by responding to two or more Quests. Review the recently posted Quests, respond to two or more, and get your name in the drawing for up to $1,000 in reimbursed travel expenses, as well as one paid conference registration up to $350. There is one day left to send it your application for the 2010 IACP/LogIn Excellence in Victim Services Award. The IACP Victim Services Committee and LogIn, Inc., created this award to honor law enforcement agencies that make exemplary efforts in providing innovative service to victims of crime. This award recognizes agencies that utilize best practices, including effective partnerships, training methods, and performance monitoring tools to place victims at the center of their problem-solving efforts.

New Studies on Multitasking: What's Your Risk From Brain Overload?

New studies of the nature and challenges of multitasking have important implications about the safety of police driving, both on patrol and in high-speed pursuits, according to Dr. Bill Lewinski, executive director of the Force Science Institute. One research team, at the University of Utah, revisited the often-studied subject of cell phone use while driving -- and discovered something new. Grant - ATV Programs

The Yamaha OHV Access Initiative is a proactive, grassroots program supported by Yamaha dealers and customers nationwide promoting safe, responsible riding and sustainable, open riding areas. Each quarter, Yamaha will accept applications from organizations such as non-profit or tax exempt OHV riding clubs, national forests and associations and national, state, local government agencies and associations. A committee then reviews each application and awards grants to deserving projects. For more information on this grant, search keyword "ATV" in the Funding section under Current Affairs.
