"Using Maps of Home Foreclosures to Understand National and Local Problems"
Despite the significant media focus on foreclosures in middle- and upper-income communities, low- and moderate-income communities are likely to bear most of the burden of this crisis because they are disproportionately exposed to foreclosures and are the least equipped to respond. This article will discuss local communities' capacity to use geographic information systems (GIS) to influence crime control and other emerging problems and to advise policy-making around these pressing social issues. This document is located in the Core Database under document #600449.

"Regulations -- General Conduct"
This policy is from the Las Vegas, Nevada, Metropolitan Police Department Policy Manual. The purpose of this policy is to establish General Conduct violations including disorderly conduct; consorting with persons of ill repute; fraternization with suspects and persons in custody; accepting gifts, gratuities and privileges; personal involvement in incidents; indebtedness; release of employee information; cheating; and dishonesty. The full text of this policy can be located in the Policies Database under document #600520.

CURRENT AFFAIRS

Funding - Survivor Assistance
A law enforcement officer is killed in the line of duty every 57 hours, on average. The fallen officer is often the primary, if not the sole, provider for that family. The American Federation of Police & Concerned Citizens (AFP&CC) provides financial support and scholarships to the children of those men and women who lost their lives while fulfilling their pledge to serve and protect our society. For more information on this and other grant opportunities, please see the IACP Net Funding section.
