Quest-Response Recognition Program Information sharing between law enforcement professionals is key in today’s world. IACP Net’s Quest-Response Service is a great resource for receiving direct assistance from your peers without having to play phone-tag or interrupt someone’s schedule. We at IACP Net want to recognize and thank you for your participation and for supporting your peers. Each month from April through August 2007, that you enter two or more Responses in the Quest-Response Service, you will automatically be entered into the recognition drawing to be held in September. The winner will receive up to $1,000 to reimburse travel expenses to attend the 2007 IACP Conference in New Orleans, Louisiana, as well as one paid conference registration up to $350 in value. Please log on today to assist other departments with your experiences by answering a Quest or two. For complete contest rules, please see the Quest-Response Recognition Program information sheet, which is available on the site. AELE Monthly Law Journal Now Available! DATABASES "Use of 10-Codes vs. Use of Plain Language in Radio Communications" Over time, police agencies have customized their own agency-specific codes, resulting in several different meanings for codes among federal, state and local agencies. The move to plain language has helped resolve this problem when more than one agency is responding. This IACP Fact Sheet is intended to help local agency decision-making by providing useful information, and can be found in the Core Database under document #588832. "Requesting Federal Law Enforcement/National Guard Assistance" This policy is from the Centerville, Ohio, Police Department Accreditation Procedures Manual. The purpose of this policy is to identify the procedure for requesting assistance from any federal agency or the National Guard upon identification of a need for specialized or additional assistance from a federal agency or the National Guard. This policy is located in the Policies database under document #588813. NETWORKING Going Green Roundtable “Going green” to save energy in an environmentally-friendly way is slowly developing across the country, and police departments are also getting involved. The Sausalito, California, Police Department is currently building a "green" public safety facility, which will also house the fire station. Is your department going green to save energy? Does it plan to? What is your department doing to save energy? Are hybrids patrol cars being added to the fleet? Please share your opinion on your success or failure of energy conservation in the Going Green Roundtable.
